How Increased Competition Has Led To Advances In The iPod

The iPod has been around since October 2001. This is hard to believe. It doesn't seem like it's been around for that long already. Over the last five years they continue to come out with a new and improved model of the iPod. Recently they have released the iPod video, which has also been a great success.

Development

The iPod was developed because there was a lack of quality digital music players on the market. Other digital devices such as cameras, camcorders, and organizers were available and were selling quite well; nest was the digital music player. After developing and releasing the Apple iPod was the release of the models for the Mac and Window users. This increased the sales of the iPod even more. The continued advancement and improvement of the iPod was necessary to keep customers interested and sales up. The iPod did just that. It kept the leading position in the market and is recorded at selling over 42 million units since its release.

Competition

Competition is another reason each company keeps improving their design. In 2005 a new and improved iPod was released with a color screen. This color screen was a first in the iPod evolution. Shortly after this release the Samsung Company announced that they were going to release and even better version. This competition led to the fifth generation of the iPod. This fifth generation is better known as the video iPod. Ipod Nano was another top seller at this time.

Video iPod

This new video iPod is capable of playback, video playing and better organizational features. You can get the iPod video in both 30 GB and 60 GB models. It also has the ability to play at a much higher resolution than previously seen. A 16 bit screen and the capability to display all kinds of videos are a few other features. You can get your video iPod in either black or white. Some of the other new features is it has a world clock, a stop watch, screen lock application, smaller earphones, a small slip case, and fire wire cable.

The new video iPod also has smaller dimensions than previous iPods. Even though the dimensions are smaller, the screen size has increased. The video iPod is also thinner too. Hard to believe that it is capable of doing more things, but they make it smaller and thinner than before. The battery life was also increased to 16 to 20 hours. Just remember that if you are watching videos it will use the battery life up quite a bit faster.

It is amazing to see how quickly things can evolve. Look at the amazing things that have come just since the launching of the iPod five years ago. It's hard to imagine what they will come out with next, but I'm sure there will be something new for us to look forward too. There will always be that competition to be the best on the market.

Shaking it With Bluetooth Stereo Headphone

Bluetooth headphones are the perfect companion to any music fan who wants to listen to music anywhere and anytime. They work well at home, at work, or while travelling. Bluetooth headphones are essentially a Bluetooth headset, but come with two earpieces instead of just one. Unlike the normal headsets, these stereo headsets come with much better quality speakers. They obviously cost that much more, but then are quite worth the price difference.

Bluetooth headsets have the advantage of really good earphones like the famed Walkman series earphones coupled with wireless capability which means that you don't have to fiddle around with messy wires anytime. It does save a lot of hassle every time as wires always have a tendency to get entangled however neatly one tries to pack them. They usually run on built in lithium ion batteries which are chargeable by the given adapter. The headphones usually last for about ten hours of music playback on a single charge.

These headsets can be used to attend telephone calls as well and have a microphone built in which works as a hands free kit as well. It is quite a logical option if you are thinking of going wireless. There are quite a few brands that manufacture Bluetooth headphones but its best you go for Original equipment or for a renowned brand. In most cases the headsets from the phone manufacturers themselves are a great accessory. Get yourself a pair of Bluetooth stereo headsets and shake it on the go!

Standard Vs Noise-Canceling Running Headphones

If you go out to buy yourself a brand new pair of running headphones, you will have a lot of choices between different features. Of course you would expect to choose the style: Earbud or neck band? Single-wire or wireless? Green or blue? These are almost all choices based on personal preference.

But one decision you may not anticipate needing to make is that between standard running headphones and those with noise-cancelling technology. Here is a run-down of the pros and cons of opting for the noise-cancelling headphones. Hopefully this helps you make the best decision for you.

PROs of noise-cancelling running headphones:

Help reduce unwanted background noise. (If outside: construction, interstate traffic, etc. If inside: obnoxious fitness club music, people talking too loud next to you, noisy treadmills, etc.)
Healthy for your ears. With lower background noise, you can keep your volume lower to hear it. With earphones so close to your ear, the lower your volume, the less damage you do to your eardrum and inner ear.
Prolonged battery life. Having your volume turned up the whole time to drown out noise will drain your battery. keeping a lower level lets it last longer.

CONs of noise-cancelling running headphones:

Expensive. Noise cancelling technology is often much more expensive than regular headphones. If you just want to hear your music and aren't picky about sound quality, it may not be worth the investment.
Inconsistent. Some noise-cancelling headphones work better than others. If you're going to spend the money, read reviews before you buy to make sure you're getting a pair that actually makes a difference.
Safety. If you are running outside and the noise-cancelling running headphones really do work, you will not have as much information about your surroundings. Many competitive runs outlaw headphones for this reason. If you do get these headphones, be extra careful so you are aware of oncoming traffic.

These three pros and three cons are just an introduction to noise-cancelling headphones. Whether or not you choose to buy them depends on where you plan to use them and what purpose you want your headphones to serve. And, of course your budget.

Advantages of Plasma Style TVs

The big advantage of plasma style TVs and why they are so popular is their versatility. You can put them almost anywhere. Their sleek design makes mounting them on a wall child's play and because they're so thin, they hardly take up any space in whatever room you place them in.

In the early days of plasma televisions, there was a large price disparity between the big screen version and the smaller cousins. But today, the difference has dissipated so much that the price difference is almost negligible. In fact, today, the smallest plasma television you can buy is a 32 inch diagonal.

But anyone thinking of getting a plasma TV today should opt for a large screen, assuming that they have the room in their house. The biggest plasma television built to date is the Panasonic 150 inch diagonal of which, at last count, there were only five in the world. Undoubtedly there will be larger TV screens in the future. The limiting factor today is not the plasma TV technology. Rather it's the difficulty of manufacturing a glass screen larger than 150 inches that won't be prone to cracking.

One thing that buyers of plasma televisions should be prepared for is higher electricity bills. According to the Environmental Protective Agency a plasma television will use five times more energy than an equivalent LCD screen. Most people when they purchase a plasma TV will buy one with at least a 36 inch diameter. And even though this is at the smaller end of plasma televisions, the electricity usage from a TV this size can equal that of a medium sized refrigerator. Right now, the typical consumer has no way to judge the energy efficiency of any particular model. Eventually, however, you'll begin to see the Energy Star tags appearing on plasma TV models so you can at least compare one model to the other in terms of energy use.

From an aesthetic and decorative standpoint, the huge advantage of a plasma TV is the ease with which you can re-arrange your room and give it a completely different look. The old bulky CRT televisions, especially those with large screens, would take up a tremendous amount of living space, limiting your options on how your furniture could be arranged.

A regular TV normally requires that you have a furniture piece on which to place the television. But the new plasma TVs can practically be placed anywhere. They can be hung on the wall, placed on a piece of furniture, suspended from the ceiling, placed in a hidden wall, and so on. It can be treated a furniture or as art. From being one of the least versatile pieces, it has gone to one of the most versatile.

The technology for Plasma TVs has been around for over forty years. From simple points of lights used to perform simple laboratory experiments, the technology has advanced to the point where it is used to power millions of television sets across the globe. Similarly, the quality of the images displayed has increased more than a thousandfold since those early prototypes.

High Quality Mp3 Earphones At Budget Prices

As anyone who has read any of my previous mp3 related articles will know (if not, why not) my original quest was to find the best buy cheap mp3 players.

That, in fact, proved to be not as difficult as I initially imagined, as I managed to locate at least six great buys under $100, all of which did a great job in terms of features, sound quality and storage space (for the price, of course).

I enjoyed testing all of the mp3 players in question.

But, I do have a confession to make.

I tested each and every one of them using what you might call 'traditional' hi-fi headphones, rather than with the in-ear earphones that are supplied as standard with most of the players.

The reason for this was very simple.

If I am trying to test mp3 players, then, by definition, I want to be able to listen to, and comment on, the sound quality of the cheap mp3 players under review.

Unfortunately, with the standard earphones supplied with the vast majority of mp3 players, this is no simple task, because of the (generally) extremely average overall performance of most of the earphones provided.

First and foremost, they are supposed to be 'in-ear' phones, which, to me at least, would imply that the darned things should fit into your ears. Now, how many people do you know who have perfectly spherical ear holes?

Not many, I would guess.

Nor is it anything to do with size.

I myself am blessed with listening gear that was rejected by Disney staff tasked with casting Dumbo, on the grounds that no self respecting cartoon elephant would ever sport such preposterously large ears.

Still, these blasted things do not fit.

Nor is the quality of these standards phones up to much, either. On the odd occasion when they don't choose to pop out of your ears, so that you actually have a chance to listen, you probably won't like what you hear anyway!

Now, obviously these earphones are the bit of your mp3 'kit' that transmits the noise from your player into your ears, and thenceforth to the depths of your brain.

Thus, there is no more important element when listening to your mp3 player than the earphones.

I therefore scoured the market to come up with the best in cheaper mp3 earphones, and have listed my findings at http://BuyCheapMp3Player.info/earphones.

You may even be pleasantly surprised to know that my cheapest recommendation comes in at less than $20 brand new, and you can probably find them cheaper still by following the auction site link at the bottom of the webpage.

To summarize, if you are using the earphones that were supplied as standard when you bought your cheap mp3 player, then you are probably cheating yourself out of the full enjoyment of your music.

Far better to consider buying some after market, higher quality earphones, such as those listed on my site, so that you are at last able to appreciate just how good the sounds that you are listening to can truly be!
